Choosing a luxury interior designer in London

"We take all the stress out of the job for the client and oversee every aspect."

Finding the right designer for a residential project can seem daunting. However, Catherine Wilman Interiors makes the process stress-free for our clients. We cover all aspects of design, including architectural plans, furnishings, bespoke furniture and project managing.

The fee for using an interior design service such as ours can be repaid many times over with savings made on a project. With access to a worldwide source of suppliers, we can get large trade discounts on products and pass them on to the client.

Also, by compiling a detailed Schedule of Works at the start of a project, we avoid costly mistakes further down the line.

We start each project with an initial consultation and then visit a property to get an understanding of the space we are working with.

The second stage is to produce detailed drawings of all the interior elements. Using these plans we produce layouts for furniture, lighting, flooring and wall finishes within the property.

This takes us to the final layout, which is agreed with the client. The next step is to create concept boards for colour schemes, window treatments, furniture, accessories, and art.

Planning

During the design process at Catherine Wilman Interiors, we pay particular attention to lighting plans to ensure they work with furniture layouts and room designs.

On a complex renovation, the untrained eye can overlook a simple decision such as where to put a plug socket.

It’s too late at the end of a project to realise you can’t place your £600 Porta Romana table lamp where you want it because the lead does not reach the power supply. The same is true for the bespoke furniture we have made such as bedroom wardrobes. It is essential to get everything planned correctly, including cupboard lighting and additional sockets for items such as hairdryers.

On budget. On time.

Rather than starting a project on your own and not knowing how much the final cost will be, an interior designer will compile a Schedule of Works with a breakdown of prices for each element of a project. This is an essential and complex calculation that can be overlooked by a non-professional.

Catherine says: “My job is about finding the right people to do the right job at the right time and for the right price. We have 20-years’ experience of putting budgets together and keeping to them. For the client, it means they know exactly how much everything is going to cost before any work has started. There are no surprises further down the line.”
